SITUATIONAL AWARENESS & INCIDENT MONITORING

Asterix uses a combination of live mapping, operational information, vehicle tracking and external information sources to maintain situational awareness before and during incidents. This assists Dispatch and responding crews with verification, route planning, resource decisions and incident coordination.
Our situational-awareness capability includes:
  • Fire & Weather Monitoring
Monitoring available fire-risk, weather, wind and incident information to assist with veld, wildland and forest fire preparedness and operational decision-making.
  • Road & Traffic Monitoring
Live mapping and traffic information assists with identifying congestion, road closures, abnormal traffic conditions and the most practical response routes.
  • Operational Mapping & Navigation
Digital maps are used for incident locations, access routes, water points, response planning and navigation during emergency operations.
  • Vehicle Location Awareness
Tracking fitted to Asterix operational vehicles assists Dispatch with vehicle location, deployment and operational oversight.
  • Community & Partner Information
Information received through emergency reporting channels, local/district/provincial networks and recognised response partners contributes to incident verification and situational awareness.
These systems support faster verification, informed deployment and safer operational decision-making. Information from external platforms and reporting networks is assessed operationally and does not replace statutory monitoring or emergency authorities.

RESPONSE VEHICLE & OPERATIONAL EQUIPMENT

Asterix Fire & Rescue maintains a dedicated response vehicle equipped for fire, rescue, emergency support and incident-scene operations across a range of operational environments.
Our vehicle carries a practical, response-ready equipment complement that includes:
